WHO Representatives in Maldives

 

 

Dr Akjemal Magtymova, a newly appointed WHO Representative to the Republic of Maldives, assumed her office on 1 July 2011. Dr Magtymova has an extensive United Nations experience, both in administration and programming. Before this assignment, Dr Magtymova held a position of Medical Officer in Reproductive Health and Research/Making Pregnancy Safer, Department for Family Health and Research, WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia, New Delhi, India. She has had direct involvement in clinical and epidemiological research in reproductive health, including anemia in pregnancy, reproductive tract infections, and feto-placental deficiencies were among her early professional pursuits. Over the past ten years, she mainly focused on planning, implementation and evaluation of development assistance programmes designed for improvement of women’s and children’s health, reproductive health and population policies in countries of the Central and South-East Asia and the Western Pacific.
